Continued Progress

Well honestly I am interviewing this week for another job at a different grade level. So now I am thinking that maybe I should look at the curriculum and find out how technology is going to fit into this grade level. So I have started again. I still do not know my students but I can continue to look at the new curriculum and determine where and how technology will fit. My new teammates will be much more apt to be receptive to the idea of technology in the classroom. So I am very excited about that. I have learned that it will be an exciting year putting technology into the classroom. I have followed and continue to follow my actions.
I have made the survey to go home so that is ready for when I know and who is in my class. I have also started working on the class wiki. Each subject has a page and each student has a page. So that will be fun to finish putting together.
I have continued to do research about some of the things I saw at ISTE. Does anyone use Gaggle or know anything about it?

  1. Amy,

Good luck with your interviewing process and search for a new position. It is exciting when you have coworkers that love technology and are willing to work together. Our coworkers are an integral part of our happiness as a teacher. It really helps to have supportive colleagues.

In regards to Gaggle, I have not had the chance to use it, but I have seen it demonstrated several times at different conferences. It is a set of online tools (email, spreadsheets, calendars, blogs, gaggletube - similar to youtube, etc.) that are specifically designed for classrooms. Everything is filtered and all teacher accessible. You can set up classroom email accounts for each student and then monitor those accounts (and emails) as often as you would like. It's a "school-safe" form of Google and seems like it would be extremely beneficial in the classroom. Hope this helps answer a few of your questions you may have about Gaggle.
